Welcome to the base for explorers
By bicycle or on foot, discover and enjoy the idyllic and impressive Loisach-Kochelsee marsh landscape. It was formed more than 15,000 years ago during the Würm glacial stage and has influenced even expressionist painters such as Franz Marc, Gabriele Münter and Wassily Kandinsky.
Just 2 km from Bichl lies the Benediktbeuern monastery featuring countless cultural events. As one of the oldest Benedictine monasteries in Bavaria, it was founded around the year 725.
The Schlossmuseum castle museum and Münter Haus (the so-called “Russian villa”) in Murnau, the Franz Marc Museum in Kochel am See and the Günther Buchheim Museum in Bernried on Starnberger See (lake) are easily reached by train or along bike trails through the marvelous landscape.
